Identities, profiles and addresses
EmailXT transposes to email what people do in their lives: Under the same identity, people can present themselves personaly to friends and relatives, but also as professionals of organization A, or B, or C... Under EmailXT, the once-supreme email address is replaced by your Identity. An encryption key is associated to your identity.
Your Identity can present itself under several profiles: One Personal Profile and many Professional Profiles. All profiles share the same encryption keys. However, each Profile issues different relationship keys, meaning that you cannot correspond to all Profiles of one of your contacts.
Finally, each Profile has a set of email addresses, one being the primary address and all others being alternative addresses. In addition, each Profile has it's own user data, default trust level, and mailbox access policies. Each user is free to decide which data is to be shared at each trust level.
Separating professional and private life with EmailXT
As already mentioned, you cannot correspond to all Profiles of one of your contacts. In fact, you won't even know about them until you establish a relationship. However, EmailXT can track two different Profiles back to a common Identity, so you will know that you are talking to the same person.
An example: Alice may work at an insurance company, but also at a local humanitarian organization. In this case, she may have three profiles: Her personal Profile, the insurance company Profile, and the humanitarian Profile. Each of her profiles can share more, less, or just different information about Alice.
Now Bob is an insurance broker and wants to contact Alice. He has her insurance company email address. When establishing a relationship with Alice, Bob gets her profile data that includes her insurance company virtual business card and business contact numbers.
Dave is Alice's best friend. He uses Alice's passcode to immediately establish a relationship with her, at her personal mailbox. Alice also assigns him a high trust level. At this point Dave receives Alice's high trust personal data, that includes a photo, personal interests, her mobile and home phone, and also her geo-location.
